PEMRA Auctions Licenses for 5 Satellite Television Channels

Pakistan Digital Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Tuesday auctioned 5 licences for satellite tv for pc tv channels.

Galaxy Community was awarded the licence of ‘Information’ class channel, after providing a Rs 63.5 million bid for a similar.

Bol Enterprises was awarded the Leisure class for Rs 48.5 million.

Instructional Channel licence was awarded to Ms/ Renaissance for Rs 10.5 million whereas the licence for well being channel went to Glam Community.

Media Roots was awarded the licence for agriculture tv channel for Rs 10.5 million.

The one bidder for Sports activities tv channel, M-Report, failed to show up so its public sale was deferred.

Earlier in his tackle, Chairman PEMRA Salim Baig stated that the digital media watchdog was holding public sale of six satellite tv for pc tv channel licences by way of open and clear bidding.

He expressed the hope that after arrival of those satellite tv for pc channels, there could be a rise in wholesome competitors within the media trade.

Director Normal Licencing Vakil Ahmed Khan stated that the method of bidding TV channels had began in 2014 initially. Nonetheless, attributable to keep orders from courts, the method was delayed.
